Amy Foraker, NP
Amy Foraker has extensive experience as a critical care RN in the perioperative setting on the post-anesthesia care unit at UCHealth Memorial Central Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. In May of 2023, Amy earned a Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN) and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) in the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner (AGACNP) pathway at the School of Nursing, Colorado State University Pueblo. Prior to entering the field of nursing, Amy earned a PhD in pharmaceutical sciences at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. She served as a scientist for 15 years driving basic research initiatives in several scientific institutions, including the National Cancer Institute at The National Institutes of Health, The Ohio State University, the University of Maryland, the University of California San Francisco, and The Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation. However, during these studies, Dr. Foraker realized she wanted to be involved in the clinical side of health promotion and disease prevention, which led her to pursue the field of nursing. Amy is a member of the American Nurses Association, the Colorado Nurses Association, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the Sigma Theta Tau Chapter of the International Honor Society of Nursing. She also completed a fellowship with the Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence HRSA-sponsored Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program. Dr. Foraker currently lives in Pueblo, CO where she enjoys exercising and hiking with friends and family and taking long drives through mountain valleys. In addition, she has a passion for improving environments for all species and enjoys developing a xeriscape garden at her home to attract and promote the wellness of pollinators.
